Campers Connecting with the Community
by Meghan Hill, Director of Business Operations & Alumni Relations
The Burgess & Hayward “Road Crew” held its first community service event of the season, on October 19th. Comprised of both Burgess & Hayward summer campers, the Road Crew congregated on Camp, at the recently renovated Pickett Hall, at 9 am to embark on a “Neighborhood Appreciation Day.”
Road Crew Member and Burgess Camper, 11-year-old Ian Masterson, helps clean up Camp’s neighboring streets.
Collecting more than 10 garbage bags of litter from neighboring streets, the Crew also made a point of connecting with Camp’s neighbors by creating and distributing cards, letting residents know how much the Camp Burgess & Hayward Community appreciates being a part of the larger, beautiful East Sandwich community. Coming back together as a group in the afternoon, the socially-minded campers celebrated their endeavors with a much-deserved pizza party around the campfire.
