Summer Camp

OUR CAMPING TRADITION

Established in 1928, the South Shore YMCA Camp Burgess and Hayward has been a leader in Massachusetts camping for over 90 years. Located on Cape Cod just one hour south of Boston in the historic town of Sandwich, the brother-sister camps are situated on over 300 acres of forests, meadows and sparkling freshwater ponds. With one and two-week sessions, Camp Burgess & Hayward have programs for boys and girls ages 7-16.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Our program provides campers with an engaging and supportive environment that encourages hands-on learning, self-expression, leadership building, and an appreciation for the natural world. By learning new skills, our campers will develop self confidence and self respect, based on an appreciation of their own worth as individuals. Campers experience independence and problem solving skills as they learn to live and explore their interests with seven other cabin mates!

THE BROTHER-SISTER RELATIONSHIP

Our brother-sister structure allows campers to benefit from both a single-sex camp as well as a co-ed camp. Most of our meals and activities are single camp only, while during a session we have many special events including co-ed activities. Campers benefit from the single gender environment while also experiencing safe and positive opportunities for co-ed social interaction; the best of both worlds. We also have some great co-ed programs throughout the summer:
