Fresh From the Farm

Thanks to a group of high school students in the Cape Cod Collaborative, the farm is getting some new structures this spring. The students, who are participating in a new program in which they learn applicable job skills in addition to addressing academic subjects, recently built and installed two large cold frames, one on each end of the greenhouse.

These cold frames offer a transitional spot for our seedlings to sit between the cozy greenhouse and the chilly outside world, and they will help us make the most of our growing season by providing a protected spot for plants in the early spring and late fall. The high school students are now in the process of building several new picnic benches so we’ll have some seating (and eating!) spaces right at the farm. Upcoming projects on the list include a permanent raised bed inside the greenhouse, an extensive herb garden, solar-powered food dehydrators, and more!
