February Camp Contest: Your Farming Philosophy

This month, as Burgess Farm gears up for an exciting and bountiful growing season, we want to hear about your farming philosophy. Why do you think farming is important? What makes farming fun? If you’ve ever grown a vegetable or taken care of a farm animal, what was your favorite part? If you have yet to get your hands dirty on a farm, what would you be most excited to try?

Camp Burgess & Hayward Farm Director, Tara Laidlaw, soaks up the sun with her kids

If you’re looking for inspiration, check out the Burgess Farm webpage here and the farm director’s blog posts here You’ll find all kinds of information about what we’re growing, why we’re so excited about the farm, and the kinds of activities the farm has to offer.

To enter the contest, email your responses to Tara, the camp farm director, at tlaidlaw@ssymca.org. At the end of the month, she will choose not one, not two, but ten winners! Each of the winning entries will be posted in the farm shed to inspire the thousands of visitors who help out on the farm each year. And each of the ten winners will receive a limited-edition Burgess Farm t-shirt.  We look forward to receiving your entries!

Did you know we offer Farming as an Interest Group? What better way to discover yet another unique programming opportunity that Camp has to offer! You may enjoy Farming so much, you’ll come back for Farming Specialty Camp! Learn more here.
