Camp Burgess & Hayward’s Camp Store News     October, 2016

There are some exciting changes underway for our Camp stores…

Camp Burgess and Camp Hayward each have a retail store where souvenirs, clothing and necessities are available for purchase. New this year, we will also be introducing an online store, where you will be able to shop for your favorite Camp merchandise throughout the year! Be sure to check our website frequently to see which products are available.

Please note that beginning in 2017, we will no longer be charging campers $1.50 for a daily snack – conveniently, this is included in the cost of Camp. Campers are not allowed to bring cash to Camp, therefore we ask that each camper have an initial Camp Store Deposit set up at the time of registration, prior to check-in. We recommend a deposit of $40 for a one-week session and $80 for a two-week session; this deposit will provide for some necessities, such as a toothbrush, water bottle, flip flops, bug spray, sunblock, and flashlight, as well as a souvenir and/or a Burgess-Hayward tank top, t-shirt, sweatshirt or sweatpants.

Purchases made during the Camp session are deducted from the camper’s store deposit. Beginning in 2017, funds remaining in the camper’s store account after they depart Camp will be accessible to that camper for them to shop in our virtual store until October 1st. After October 1st, all remaining funds will be automatically donated to our Campership Fund.

As a result of this change, we will no longer be issuing any refunds or credits to camper accounts for remaining Camp Store Deposits. We will do our best to make sure campers do not “overspend” while they are at Camp, and will contact you if the occasion arises that they must do so to obtain an emergency item. Please note that any medications prescribed as a result of an injury or illness while at Camp will be billed to the camper’s store account.
