With online registration starting next week, I thought I would share my own registration story.
In 1999, my mom forgot to sign us up for camp in the winter. By the time she actually registered us, all of the Hayward sessions were filled. We went on the waitlist, which was very anxiety producing. Although I don’t remember that time well, I can only imagine my mom dealing with the angst and attitude that only a teenager can produce.
Fortunately, I was thirteen so I could register for Teen Adventure Trips, at the time it was called Great Escapes. So I spent two weeks bike riding across the Cape & Islands. It was really fun and I got to see a lot of different places around the cape. I also had the strongest legs in the entire world. Don’t worry, my younger sister did get into Specialty camp so she had a good summer as well.
So in the end it did work out, although we never let my mom live that one down. Till this day her advice to any camp family is “sign up by Christmas.”
So remember: online registration starts Tuesday, October 15thfor summer 2014! (Even directors get wait-listed)
