In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I would like to share how Camp Burgess & Hayward Adventure Trips gives thanks to our community. Each adventure trip includes a community service component where our adventurers have an opportunity to volunteer with a local partner.
In the Summer of 2016, some trips got the chance help out right at home at the Burgess Farm with general upkeep, weeding, and harvesting of our new production field. We are proud to donate fresh produce such as cucumbers, lettuce, beans, and chard to local food pantries on Cape Cod such as the Falmouth Service Center. Other trips helped out at the Cotuit Center for the Arts by cleaning and organizing the art studio. In addition many others volunteered by cleaning up trash at camp and local beaches, or constructing and painting bookshelves for Habitat for Humanity.
We plan to continue with our variety of service opportunities in the summer of 2017 and also add new ways to give back!
Volunteering means a lot to us at Camp and Adventure Trips and we seek to inspire others to do the same. What are some ways you give back and show pride in your community? If you have any ideas for new service opportunities, please let us know!
We wish a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the Camp Burgess & Hayward Family!
