Si drops by

Camp Burgess and Hayward Thu 01, 2014

Camp Burgess alum, Si Hands, dropped by Friday afternoon. Like many of our international staff, Si came over from England as a counselor in 2007. It was obviously a great match as he continued working at Burgess through summer 2010.

After being a counselor, Si used his computer, film, photography, and art skills to help camp as the Media Director. If you have ever looked at a map of camp or played the frisbee golf course, you will be familiar with his work. In 2010, Si won the Giving Tree Award for Camp Burgess. The highest honor a staff member can receive, the Giving Tree Award is based on the Shel Silverstein book of the same name and presented for outstanding service to youth. Here’s Si posing next to his name on Friday.

Si is visiting Boston as well as doing some photography work on the cape. Although some things at camp have changed since he was last here, Si commented that “some parts change, some parts are still the same.”

If you are an alumni and visiting the cape, please spot by camp for a tour or come to our Alumni Reunion this summer.
