I LEARNED IT AT CAMP: LEADERSHIP
Leadership involves establishing a clear vision, sharing that vision with others, providing the information, knowledge and methods to realize that vision, and coordinating and balancing the individual interests of all group members.
A leader steps up in times of crisis, and is able to think and act creatively in difficult situations. Unlike management, leadership cannot be taught, but may be learned and enhanced through coaching and mentoring.
At Camp Burgess & Hayward, our superior staff model effective communication skills, the ability to create vision, goal setting and achieving, courage in the face of adversity, confidence, encouragement, honesty and thoughtful decision making — all qualities inherent in a strong leader. These are vital life skills our Campers acquire at Camp Burgess & Hayward that prepare them to face the future boldly.
