Burgess Farm may seem like a new addition to Camp, but there’s a long history of agriculture at Burgess. In searching through boxes of historical Camp photos for a display, I came across some gems that show the extent of the former farm at Burgess. Check out this aerial view of camp from the 1940s or 50s (click for a much bigger version)… That whole cleared area in the lower right of the picture is a farm — it surrounds what is now Triangle House (Asa’s house) and stretches from the current dining hall to the climbing tower. That’s a lot of farm land! Keep your eyes peeled for more farm heritage posts coming up this winter!
